October 11, 2022 - Foliage Flight
Mt. Washington to Millenocket, Maine

Looking north at Berlin, New Hampshire and the Androscoggin River.

Looking down at Bethel Regional Airport.  I'm in Maine now.  But that is still the Androscoggin River.  I'm heading northeast now towards central Maine.

Following the Androscoggin River.

Pretty color.

Looking souteast at Mexico, Maine.  Or is it Rumford?

Continuing northeast.

Looking southeast at the Maine flatlands.

The color is all on the hillsides

Approaching one of Maine's many lakes.

Marshes are always photogenic.

Passing by a big, blue lake.

Tree processing center?  Look at all those tree trunks!

Small farm on the hill slope.

An even bigger lake.

Probably some critters down there looking up at me.

I was getting tired so I decided to stop at Central Maine Airport (KOWK) and stretch my legs.  The longer runway had all sorts of vehicles on it, as if it was under construction, but there was no big X on the runway indicating it was closed.  I went ahead and landed on the shorter runway.  No big deal.  On the ground I found out that the police were using the long runway to practice driving stuff.

Back on the road again!

Approaching Great Moose Lake.

Great Moose Lake.

A little creek out in the flatlands.

Passing by Dover-Foxcroft, Maine on the Piscataquis River.  They have a grass strip airport just at the upper left of the picture but which I did not notice at the time.

Looking northwest and passing by long Sebec Lake with the mountains in the distance.

Flying north up huge Schoodic Lake.

Now over Soboeis Lake.

I thought Minnesota was the lake state.  I think Maine can give them a run for their money.

Approaching Millinocket, Maine where I will spend the night.

Looking northwest.  A good look at Millinocket Municipal Airport (KMLT), the town of Millinocket, and in the distance, Mount Katahdin.

Looking down at the FBO facility and a few hangars.

Turning base for runway 29.
